I’ve grouped becoming location independent and being a digital nomad together because ultimately, they’re more or less the same. In general, these are the 2 common paths to explore.

For Workers / Employees

  1. Figure out your SKILLS / what you wanna focus in
  2. Apply for jobs specifically allow remote working on LinkedIn / Indeed / any remote working sites
  3. Go through interviews
  4. Get hired / Ask your employer to let you work remotely
  5. Location independent (secured cash flow, can now work remotely)
  6. Figure out where you want to go
  7. Get a Digital Nomad visa / Potential Residency or Citizenship Programs / Tax planning

For Entrepreneurs / Contractors / Freelancers

  1. Review your skills and expertise
  2. Start a business (create a company, set up a business structure)
  3. Pitch clients / Run your business
  4. Location independent (secured cash flow, can now work remotely)
  5. Figure out where you want to go
  6. Get a Digital Nomad visa / Potential Residency or Citizenship Programs / Tax planning

That’s it. Nothing too fancy, it often sounds more complicated but it’s pretty simple and straightforward. Therefore, after you have generated enough savings and cash flow, you can pretty much start packing your things and travel to different places to figure out where you may want to set up your home base for longer-term residency or consider citizenship planning.

During your journey to a location-independent life, depending on your job situation or your business, you may have achieved Financial Freedom.
